From Conception to the Tonys:
The Chronology of the Birth of a Show
7. The Workshop
Generally, a workshop production is produced, so that the creative team can work further on the material with actors cast in appropriate roles. The workshop is essentially the entire staged production without any technical elements (no lights, sets, or costumes). This culminates in a presentation for investors and other interested parties, taking it through to the final step.
8. Rehearse, Rehearse, Rehearse
Production involves generally a six-week rehearsal process, bringing together all elements in the most exciting of collaborative work. All individual work gets thrown into the collective “pot”, with the Director as head chef.
