Spotlight on
Nederlander
Organization

Founded in 1912 by David T. Nederlander, the Nederlander Organization is one of the largest operators of live arts in America and is based in Detroit, Michigan. The organization’s first foray into theater ownership was a nearly 100-year lease on the Detroit Opera House back in 1912. After the Detroit Opera House, the Nederlander Organization operated the Shubert Lafayette Theatre and the Riveria Theatre in Detroit. Both the Detroit Opera House and Shubert Lafayette Theatre no longer exist but over the years, the organization has grown to include nine Broadway theaters, a number of other theaters across America, and three theaters in London, England.

The Nederlander Organization presents a variety of live theater on Broadway including comedies, dramatic plays, dance, and musicals. The nine Broadway theaters owned and operated by the Nederlander Organization are: the Brooks Atkinson, Lunt- Fontanne, Gershwin, Marquis, Minskoff, Nederlander, Palace, Richard Rodgers and Neil Simon Theatres.
