Jonas Nightingale inadvertently goes on his own journey of redemption when he finds himself stranded in Sweetwater. Typically in order to be redeemed, you have to start off with some sort of sin. For Jonas it’s his shady ministry and glib con-man techniques that bilk people of their money. In modern day pop culture, there are several examples of people who found redemption.
