More Skin Care Tips for Men

It seems men – and the women who love them – are eager to hear a lot more advice about ways to get the most out of their skincare routines, and learn more about how to best protect their skin.  This not only includes the face, but also the neck and back areas.

Did you know that one of the biggest irritants for men is cologne?  It can cause a rash on the neck where skin is very thin.  The best advice is to spray a single spritz of scent onto clothing instead of directly on the skin.  The smell will last just as long and you are protecting a very sensitive area.

The neck can also present other issues.  Men who have coarse hair and shave the back of their neck are prone to hard pimples in that location. To avoid this problem, ask your barber or hairstylist to use clippers instead of shaving the back of the neck with a razor. If you MUST use a razor, make sure it is very sharp and pre-cleanse the skin with a product that contains either benzoy peroxide, salicylic acid, glycolic acid or a combination of those.

Lastly, guys, listen to your ladies!  A recent study showed that the large percentage of skin cancers that appear on a man's back are detected by the man's spouse or girlfriend who then encourage the man to seek medical attention. If your loved one says they see something new, changing or suspicious looking on your skin, tell them you appreciate them looking after you and make an appointment to see a dermatologist immediately!
